NYSSEA has a “gift” for MEMBERS to thank them for attending the 2026 annual meeting – a one-hour free CE session – 1099-DA:  Year One. 

Digital Asset Tax Compliance is changing quickly.  2024 brought us hundreds of pages of new regulations, and tax year 2025 brought us a new form, the 1099-DA.  We now have a full tax season of this new form under our belts, and will review what is going well and what isn't.  We will discuss what to do when the form contains errors (which is most of the time).  We will also prepare for next filing season, which will bring even more changes to this new form.  Participants will leave with a solid understanding of how to interpret the data on these forms and potential errors to look out for. 

Our Distinguished Speaker:  Matt Metras, EA, is the owner of MDM Financial Services in Irondequoit, NY, and a proud member of NYSSEA.  He has been practicing since 2003 and specializes in bookkeeping and taxation for cryptocurrency clients.  He is a cofounder of the InCite Tax Community for tax professionals and also a roundtable facilitator for Next Level Insights.  He has instructed on Digital Asset Taxation for NAEA, NATP, AICTP, and many other national and state organizations.  Additionally, he is a contributing writer for thinkoutsidethetaxbox.com.  Matt is the 2024 recipient of the NYSSEA Founders Award.  Matt is also a frequent traveler, having visited over 25 countries on 6 continents.
